FatPaddler.com‘s Adventures in Mauritius | The 2012 Mauritius Ocean Classic – a 28km downwind World Series surf ski race
In an ongoing effort to promote Mauritius – as the diverse family friendly holiday destination that it is – Specialists in holidays to Mauritius from Australia, Above and Beyond Holidays teamed up with Fatpaddler.com and LUX Island Resorts to train and compete in the 2012 Mauritius Ocean Classic.
For the last 3 years Above and Beyond Holidays has been sending Australian families and racers alike to Mauritius to compete in the 28km downwind world series event. About 30 Aussies went in 2010, 55 in 2011 and 110 in 2012 !
LUX Island Resorts hosts the event in the south at Tamassa – with a week of programs including practice and training with professional racers like David Mocke.
The event is a load of fun for all including families with children. Tamassa caters for all – even non surf skiers ! The event and week long program also caters for surf skiers of all levels of abilities and provides an excellent environment to learn and improve your skills by spending time with the best in the business.
The Fatpaddler himself, Sean Smith and partner in crime, co conspirator Nat Bradford from Sydneysurfski.com spent the lead up to the event training and learning the transition from a touring kayak to racing open water craft.
