Rodrigues, is a Mauritian dependant island located 560 km’s further east of Mauritius in the middle of the vast Indian Ocean.
The smallest of the Mascarene Islands (Mauritus, Reunion, Rodriqgues ) Rodrigues is tiny ! All 109 km² of paradise island surrounded by coral reef is so remote it is like stepping back in time. The locals mainly speak Rodriguan Creole, with many speaking French and some English.
As you can see by the video below from the Rodrigues Tourisme Board, the island is a haven of white sandy beaches and friendly locals. The island hasn’t been over developed with luxury 5 star hotels likes its neighbour Mauritius and retains an air of laid back colonial charm.
Rodrigues has many attractions for the active tourist from amazing diving on spectacular coral reefs, spectacular scenic walking trails, whale watching in season and great kite surfing conditions !
