Air Austral, has taken delivery of two new long range Boeing 777-200LR. Air Austral flights depart from Sydney on Tuesday and Saturday to Reunion Island, a French island, roughly 130 kilometers from its neighbor Mauritius.
The current intention is to use the aircraft from Mayotte to Paris although it was mentioned we may see the aircraft on the Sydney to Reunion twice weekly flight – a huge boost to Mauritius and Reunion Islands tourism sector.

Gerard Etheve, Air Austral’s President has christened the first of the delivered planes “Marcel Goulette”, after a famous french pilot, the first in 1929 to fly from Paris to Reunion Island. Air Austral hope to receive the second B777-200LR in April 2012
These new aircraft will feature on demand video throughout all three classes. 25 movies will be on offer to play and watch whenever guests like as well as a range of documentaries, TV shows and children’s cartoons, up to 100 music channels and 16 video games.
